The light bulb on my minimaglite only turns on when I remove the cap and twist it myself. Then when I put the cap back on, and turn it off, it won't come back on if I don't repeat the whole process again. I'm assuming something is broke inside, perhaps someone dropped it. I'm hoping to fix it. Even though this is an inexpensive flash light, I'm in mexico in a region where I can't find a flashlight, yet, i can get on the net... :d
