I have a Iomega HDD 80GB portable hard drive. It's big and clunky. I was thinking about disassmebling it and switch to a smaller and actually more portable enclosure.

There are three screws on the back, and I have taken them out. But I'm still having trouble opening up the enclosure and getting to the inside hardware.

Can someone advise?

It could be a clamshell design. If there is a seam going around the sides of the drive, there may be plastic tabs holding the two halves together. Carefully prying with a jeweler's screwdriver might liberate the drive inside, but be careful as many plastic tabs are one-way. In breaking them free, unrepairable damage may be done to the catches that the tabs clip into.

See this picture to get an idea of the sort of tabs to look for (this photos details a PDA, but the same tabs may be used): http://www.takeitapart.net/photos/hp_ipaq/11.jpg
